I am a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), working with Prof. Ming-Chang Yang.
I study how storage systems should evolve as new device interfaces expose more control while cloud-native platforms abstract away more infrastructure. I am especially drawn to problems that emerge when new abstractions meet mature storage stacks, where long-standing assumptions and boundaries no longer hold.
I obtained my Ph.D. from CUHK in 2026 and my B.Eng. from Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST) in 2022.
Research
My current research centers on redesigning storage systems for evolving abstractions at both device and cloud levels.
At the device level, I study emerging storage abstractions, including Zoned Namespace (ZNS), Flexible Data Placement (FDP), and computational storage, that expose new capabilities and reshape the division of responsibilities between host software and storage devices. I design new interfaces and cross-layer mechanisms to make these capabilities truly practical for storage engines and data systems.
At the cloud level, I study cloud-native storage systems and services, including multi-tenant serverless databases and elastic block storage. My goal is to provide predictable performance and high resource efficiency in storage engines, even under elastic scaling, resource sharing, and limited visibility into the underlying infrastructure.
